The present work attempts an analytical overview of the environment as well as the substance of the field of comparative public Administration. The major purpose of the book is to elaborate the essential elements of the “ecological” approach to public Administration, but while analyzing the “idea of ecology”, “the ecology of ideas”, I.E. The environmental conditions that stimulated and sustained the development of major conceptual constructs in the field of comparative public Administration, has also been subjected to an in-depth analysis. The comparative public Administration movement was an important landmark in the field of public Administration and its approaches and perspectives influenced the theory as well as practice of administration in the developing as well as the developed countries. This book is the first major attempt to evaluate the context as well as the contents of this emergent sub-discipline and to synthesize the models and foci of such seminal thinkers as Max Weber and Fred Riggs from the ecological-developmental perspective.
